Taliban bans Afghan women from sports


The Taliban * will not allow the women of Afghanistan to play sports as it is unnecessary. This was stated by the deputy head of the Taliban cultural commission Ahmadullah Wasik in an interview with the Australian portal SBS News.

“There may be situations where their face or body is not covered. Islam does not allow women to be seen like this. In the age of media, because of videos and photos, people will be able to look at them. The Islamic Emirate will not allow women to practice, “stressed Ahmadullah Wasik.

The Taliban * that has seized power in Afghanistan will not allow women to play cricket or any other game in which outsiders can see their bodies. This was announced by the deputy head of the Commission on Culture in the Taliban government Ahmadullah Wasik.

“I don’t think women will be allowed to play cricket because there is no need for that. <…> [During the game] they may face a situation where their face and body are not covered. Islam does not allow women to look like this,” – said Vasik in an interview with SBS TV channel.

According to him, during sports competitions, naked parts of the body of women can get into the lenses of journalists’ cameras, as a result of which other people will see them.
