Authorities in Cyprus have imposed a record fine of 16,000 Еuros on a cafe in Nicosia, after for the third time during a police check it was found that a client did not require a vaccination certificate or a document for a negative 72-hour test, reports a correspondent of Bulgarian National Radio.

Supermarkets in the capital and Larnaca were fined 8,000 Еuros each for employees without these documents.

Following the imposition of the fines, in a letter to the Minister of Health, the Association of Supermarkets protested against the high financial sanctions and threatened retaliation if the requirement was not removed.

At the same time, the Cypriot government extended on September 21st all coronavirus measures that should have been lifted.
