From November 1 to November 7, 2021, the XVIII International Charity Film Festival “Radiant Angel” will be held in Moscow under the slogan “Good Cinema”, according to Patriarchia.ru. The film forum is held annually under the patronage of Svetlana Medvedeva, chairman of the board of trustees of the comprehensive target program “Spiritual and moral culture of the younger generation of Russia”, president of the Foundation for Social and Cultural Initiatives. The spiritual guardian of the film festival is His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

The festival, organized by the Fund for Social and Cultural Initiatives, the Center for Spiritual and Moral Culture “Pokrov” with financial support from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Department of Mass Media and Advertising, will be held in the Moscow cinema “Poklonka” (Pobedy Square, 3 ).

In 2021, the festival is timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of the writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War and the 60th anniversary of the first manned flight into space. The main program of film screenings and events is aimed at a family audience, children and adolescents. This year, within the framework of the film festival, there will be a script competition “Good Cinema”, which takes place every two years.

359 films from 22 countries were announced for the film festival: Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Israel, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, Philippines, France. 156 films from 11 countries have been selected to participate in the screenings. The competition program will include 90 films in four nominations: full-length feature films, short films, documentaries, and animation.

147 applications were submitted for the selection stage of the Dobroe Kino script competition, of which 65 were debut works. Representatives of four countries sent their applications: Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Ukraine. The experts of the selection committee for participation in the competition have identified 14 scenarios, of which three are debut. All participants represent Russia.

The children’s jury (nomination for the best children’s film) will be headed by the Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Pedagogical and Social Sciences Olga Nersesova.

• Olga Sikora – Vice-Rector of the Higher Courses for Directors and Screenwriters, Honorary Cinematographer of Russia;

• Deacon Ioann Gruzinov – expert of the Spiritual Expert Council.

During the days of the festival, the audience will be offered thematic meetings, master classes, interactive exhibitions and special screenings. Among them – a creative meeting with People’s Artist of Russia Valery Garkalin and an evening in memory of musician, artist Pyotr Mamonov with the participation of film director Pavel Lungin. Creative and educational activities await children.

On October 21, a press conference will be held at the TASS news agency, where the program of the festival will be presented and the opening film will be named. Beginning at 16.00. On November 1, at 18.00, the opening ceremony of the film festival will take place in the Zhukov hall of the Poklonka cinema. Press aisle from 16.30 to 17.30.
