On August 27, 2021 in the Archaeological Museum of Burgas will be opened an exhibition dedicated to the results of archaeological underwater research of the Center for Underwater Archeology and the National History Museum in 2020-2021 in the bay Chengene scaffolding near Burgas. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ivan Hristov and Assistant Professor Dr. Naiden Prahov extracted rare fragments of glass vessels from the sea depths.

The collections of glass finds of the National History Museum and the Regional History Museum – Burgas include 310 fragments, fragmented and whole vessels.

The find is an important source of information on the poorly researched topic of consumption, trade and glass production in the Balkans during the Late Ottoman period. The vessels were most likely made in a workshop on the island of Murano, Venice, in the second half of the 16th century or the beginning of the 17th century.

The exhibition is realized according to a won project in front of the Ministry of Culture of the Center for Underwater Archeology with partners National Archaeological Museum-Sofia and Regional Archaeological Museum-Burgas. A catalog of finds with interesting historical studies on trade in the Black Sea during the Late Middle Ages with imported glass vessels is to be published.

The exhibition will be presented in Sofia in 2022.
