COMECE releases the first report of its Interfaith Youth Convention

The Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) releases on Wednesday 10 December 2021 the first report of its Interfaith Youth Convention, which gathers young Europeans sharing their hopes and recommendations for a better care of our Common Home.

The report comes on the occasion of the UN Climate Change Conference and follows the first stage of the “Interfaith Youth Convention on the European Green Deal – Striking a Deal for our Common Home”, organized by COMECE on 1st October 2021.

On that occasion, over 100 young Europeans delegated by several faith-based organizations active at the European level exchanged perspectives and ideas on the European Green Deal, formulating proposals on five thematic areas linked to the EU initiative. Participants were representatives of the Bahá’í, Buddhist, Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities.

In their report, young people highlight the need to adopt an integral approach because – they state echoing Pope Francis – everything is interrelated. “There is no option – they say  – other than addressing all areas we are living in, while committing to protect the Creation in all its diversity and complexity.”

The second part of the Interfaith Youth Convention will take place on Thursday 25 November 2021 from 11:00 to 12:30 (CET), with the participation of European Commission’s Executive Vice-President and Commissioner for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans. This event is open to the public: Register here.
