Thai King Maha Vachiralongkorn Rama X has returned to Germany after more than a year of absence with his entourage of more than 250 people and his favorite pack of 30 poodles.

The 69-year-old monarch and his entourage were photographed in a hotel at the airport near Munich after their flight in a luxury private plane.

He rented the entire fourth floor of the hotel for 11 days. Photojournalists noticed Rama X wearing an orange-brown suit on his way to the pool.

The visit to Germany is the king’s first official trip abroad since civil protests and criticism of the king’s insult law. Under Thai law, slander, insults or threats against the monarch and his close relatives are punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

On November 10, the Thai Constitutional Court announced the protesters’ demands for “abuse of rights and freedoms and damage to state security.”

The king was even accused of being absent from the country in April and May 2020. The Thai king, known as Rama X, survived the COVID-19 pandemic in the company of his lovers at the four-star German Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl.

When news of his trip hit social media, outraged Thais posted a hashtag on Twitter: “Why do we need a king?”

Earlier it was reported that the King of Thailand Maha Vachiralongkorn Rama X announced his favorite Sininat Wongwajirapakdi as second queen. This is an unprecedented event in the history of the Thai monarchy.
