The Sheikh’s brother single-handedly banned beer around the stadiums

The Qatari royal family made a shocking decision on the eve of the World Cup, related to one of the most painful topics – alcohol.

Although a preliminary agreement was reached that during the championship the sale of beer in the special fan zones and around the stadiums would be allowed, the brother of the Qatari sheikh decided to intervene.

By his express order, supported by the rest of the family, the sale of beer around the stadiums before the matches will be prohibited.

Thus, the only place where fans will be able to consume alcohol are the hotels licensed for its sale, as well as the designated fan zones, where a glass of the sparkling liquid costs 14 euros.

The decision is shocking, because after the preliminary agreement between FIFA and the Qatari authorities, a multi-million contract was concluded with the American company “Budweiser”, which would provide all the beer around the stadiums.

The change has not been officially confirmed, but already all the world’s media exploded with the news, which only shows that, regardless of the concluded contracts, what happens in Qatar is what the royal family decides.

The booze incident is just one of many problems surrounding Qatar’s hosting, and the scandal comes just two days after it emerged organizers were paying $10 a day to volunteers who dressed in the kits of world powers such as Brazil, Argentina, England and other top teams walk the streets and pretend to be real fans, recreating a World Cup atmosphere that is currently lacking.
