The largest floating book fair in the world – “Logos Hope” has arrived in the Egyptian port city of Port Said, where it has been positioned until January 23, reported the online publication “Egyption Streets”. The impressive ship visited Egypt for the second time since 2010.
Along with the collection of five thousand books from all over the world, various entertainment activities are offered on board. The vessel has a cafe, restaurant and theater.
The crew of the unique book fair consists of over four hundred volunteers from about sixty countries – engineers, teachers, nurses, who also carry out a humanitarian mission. At ports of call, they provide assistance to local communities and promote understanding and interaction between different cultures.
“Logos Hope” is owned by the non-governmental organization “Gute Bücher für Alle” (Gute Bücher für Alle). Its first library ship – “Logos” began sailing in 1970. Since then, Gute Bücher Für Ale’s floating book fairs have visited more than 480 ports in more than 150 countries and territories, and have been visited by more than 49 million people, according to the organization’s website.
